What happens to the words you write on the candle wall.
We built this to hold what is often very tender — a sick child, a marriage, a grief. So we keep as little as possible, and we tell you plainly what we do keep.
What we collect. Only what you type into the candle form: your intention, and a first name if you choose to add one. We do not ask for your email, we have no accounts or logins, and we run no advertising or third-party tracking of any kind.
Public or private. Unless you tick “keep my intention private,” the words of your intention appear on the candle wall for others to pray beside. If you mark it private, only a flame appears — your words are stored but never shown to anyone else. Either way, please avoid full names, phone numbers, addresses, or anything that could identify a person against their wishes.
Candles burn out. Every candle is automatically deleted after forty days, the way a real votive candle burns down. Nothing lingers indefinitely.
Removing a candle. The device you lit a candle from keeps a private key for it, so you can remove your own candle from that device. If you need something taken down and can’t, contact us and we will remove it.
Spam protection. To stop flooding, the server briefly keeps a one-way scrambled form of the network address of recent visitors, in a separate list that is erased within the hour. This is never attached to your intention and cannot be turned back into your address.
Where it lives. Intentions are stored on this site’s own server, in a database that is not accessible from the web. They are not sold, shared, or sent anywhere else.
