In December of 1531, on a barren hill outside Mexico City, the Mother of God appeared to a poor widowed Indian named Juan Diego — speaking his own language, calling him her little son, and leaving her image on his cloak, where it remains almost five centuries later. To a wounded people, she came simply as a mother. Walk with her over nine stages, from the hill of Tepeyac to the shelter of her mantle. Each stage has a place, a prayer, and one thing to do. Her promise holds for you: “Am I not here, I who am your Mother?”
